Central idea: Migrants and explorers both influence, and are influenced by, the world around us.
This week in Year 5, the children have been busy writing their narrative flashback story which centres around a village being raided by the Vikings. They have worked really hard on this narrative using lots of great descriptive language, using dialogue to advance the action in the story and including the correct speech punctuation for their dialogue.
In maths, we have been looking at decimal numbers and ordering the decimals from smallest to largest. They have refreshed their memories on key mathematical vocabulary like 'greater than', 'less than', 'ascending' and 'descending'.
In inquiry, we have finished our second line of inquiry 'an inquiry into the historical impact of settlers in Britain' and the children have written a script and recorded a podcast about the impact of the Anglo-Saxons in Britain.
Please can you ensure that your child brings a PE kit into school at the beginning of the week for PE.
