Year 5   Learning Update

Central idea: Roles and responsibilities lead to successful leadership.

Year 5 have been continuing their inquiry topic, moving into their second line of inquiry looking into different kinds of leadership. They have taken a great interest when exploring the leadership during the plague and in lockdown. Year 5 have been reflective in comparing different leaders based on their qualities. We are now progressing onto our third line of inquiry, this explores how leadership affects societies. Year 5 will have the opportunity to plan and create their own campaign, to run a mock election. 

Year 5 have begun planning a narrative piece of writing, giving them the autonomy over their characters and settings. They have created a leader, linking into our inquiry work, and a country. Alongside this, we have had a GPaS focus on compound sentences and independent phrases. 

In Maths, Year 5 have been looking at different tables, reading and plotting data. We have explored a range of timetables, giving them real life experiences.
