Central idea: People need specific skills and qualities to do different jobs.
This week we have been thinking about how some famous figures became successful within their job. We also thought about what we might need to do to be successful at the jobs we are interested in.
"Queen Elizabeth became the queen when her Daddy died. She had a coronation, that means she became the queen and she had a crown."
"Queen Elizabeth helped charities because she was caring."
"I want to be a vet. To be a vet I need to read lots of books about animals so I can learn how to help them when they are poorly."
In art we have been thinking about the technique of collage. We went outside and used natural materials to create our own collages, layering, overlapping and weaving.
In maths we have been doubling and halving. To double we used mirrors, it was so exciting to see double the objects we had in the reflection of the mirror! We have also been recognising and finding half of a shape. We have been busy folding, cutting and sharing into halves.
"This is half because it has two equal parts and did you know equal means the same!"
In science we have been classifying animals into invertebrates and vertebrates. We have been thinking about how animals can belong to the same group but still have differences.
"A dog is a mammal and we are mammals but we only have two legs."
"A lizard is a reptile and a snake is a reptile but snakes have no legs."
We then thought about the diets that these animals have and sorted them into omnivores, carnivores and herbivores.
"I am actually an omnivore because I had chicken nuggets and then I had some cucumber."
