Year 5   Learning Update

Central idea: Technology constantly evolves to progress human societies.

Year 5 have started their final line of inquiry, focusing on Dubai and their technological changes on human societies. They have designed and created their own buildings with hydraulic systems, mimicking the technology used in Dubai. Year 5 used pipes and syringes to create their own working hydraulic pump.

In writing, we have continued to focus on the book 'The Wild Robot', in which we have planned and written diary entries as if we were Roz the robot. Year 5 have focused on fronted adverbials as the grammar focus for this writing. 

In maths, we have been looking at short division using a bus stop method. We have used manipulatives to introduce division by sharing and grouping.
