Central idea: Humans can explore their environment to understand the world around them.
This module the children have thoroughly enjoyed connecting with nature in various ways, particularly their barefoot walk and marshmallow toasting with parents around the bonfire. We are impressed with the children for showing that they are risk-takers by engaging with these activities. Based on all of the children's outdoor experiences, both classes have created their own books in which they have become the authors and illustrators in a book designed and created entirely by them. We used our PYP texts 'Finding Wild' and 'Run Wild' as inspiration for a book all about a journey through nature.
Theo: "Run, crunch through the sticks and mud."
Albert: "When the character goes through the sand it would feel scratchy grains under its feet. We could make the pages feel scratchy with real sand."
