Central idea: Natural disasters impact living things and their environments.
What a fantastic final week we have had! The children have loved this inquiry so much and their final outcome was such a success!
This week the children have located different places around the world that are affected by flooding. We then looked at the weather forecast in Tokyo and created a pictogram to represent this during computing. The children also experimented with marbling and printing techniques to then create their final art outcome inspired by 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' Hokusai.
In maths, we have started our new topic of fractions where the children have been able to recognise equal and unequal as well as recognising a half.
Lastly, we want to thank you for all your support in raising money for ShelterBox. The children have been so engaged in this module in natural disasters and desperately wanted to help as part of the action. It has been lovely to see them take the lead and have agency over their outcome. We raised a total of £118.87!!!! which we know will make a huge difference! The children have received a lovely letter of recognition from the charity to thank them for their fundraiser.
