On Monday we started the week by celebrating Harvest with the help of Reverend Nicky and Reverend Vicky. I would like to thank everyone for their kind donations for the food bank. This will make a big difference to our community.
On Wednesday, Year 5 went to visit Marden Library. They had a lovely time sharing books and celebrating a love of reading. Over the next couple of terms every class has been invited to attend the library. We would like to thank the library for their ongoing support and for providing our children with the opportunity to visit.
Yesterday you should have received a letter about Parents' Evening. We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 16th or Thursday 17th October. Appointments for this will go live at 4pm today on MCAS. If you have any problems in signing up for a meeting please contact the office who will be more than happy to help you with this.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Vancols School Photographers will be in school on Friday 8th November 2024 for individual and family group photos. Please ensure all children are in full uniform and wearing a cardigan/jumper with the academy logo.
Family group photos will be taken at 9am. Parents are invited to bring younger siblings (not attending Marden) to the school hall at this time if they would like them to be included in these photos.
Every child receives a unique, secure QR Proof Card on the day of photography and parents simply need to follow the instructions on the card to view and order their child's images.
Your child is invited to have a flu vaccination this winter.
Having the flu vaccine protects your child and your family and friends, by preventing the spread of flu. It’s recommended to have the vaccine every year as the type of flu can vary each winter. The vaccination is a quick and painless spray up the nose. There is no charge for the vaccine.
The Kent and Medway School Immunisation Service is visiting Marden on:
Monday 25th November 2024.
Please discuss this immunisation with your child and complete the online consent form at www.kentcht.nhs.uk/imms before midnight on 19th November 2024. This form can be used to give or decline consent.
For Health & Safety reasons we discourage the wearing of any form of jewellery in school. We do however understand that parents may wish their child/ren to have their ears pierced. In these cases:
1) All earrings must be a simple stud earring-type and we only allow one piercing per ear. We ask that any piercings are carried out at the start of the summer holidays to enable the earlobe to heal over the 6 week break. If ears have been newly pierced they can be covered with micropore tape (to be provided by the parent) to prevent injury. Once the piercings have healed, earrings must be removed for all physical activity.
2) The school will not take any responsibility for lost earrings and we strongly recommend that earrings of any value are not worn in school either.
3) For all PE lessons and sporting events, including swimming, children must be able to remove earrings independently. Please note that adults cannot remove or replace earrings in a child’s ear.
Hooped earrings, dangling earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets are not allowed in school.
The school accepts no responsibility or liability for any lost items of jewellery.
Plastic Free Marden Campaign!
Are you passionate about tackling plastic pollution, particularly single-use plastic? Do you want to be part of a meaningful change in our village? With the endorsement of Marden Parish Council who will lead by example, Elle Parker and Silvia Ferraro and a couple of councillors are forming a Steering Group to rally local residents, businesses, village groups/clubs, Marden Primary Academy, the Scout Group etc to help reduce plastic waste and consumption.
And we need your help! We're forming our very first steering committee and looking for enthusiastic volunteers of ALL ages and backgrounds. No experience is needed – just a drive to make a difference. If you would like to come along to learn more about how you can help shape our plastic-free future, please email: plasticfreemarden@gmail.com
We are holding an information event on Monday 4th November at 6pm in Marden Village Club where we will share some information about plastic free communities and where we want to hear from local residents too.
What we need – local business owners, clubs and society leaders, representatives from local schools and residents; people with an interest or skills in social media, graphic design, photography, project management, campaign management, fundraising, multi-stakeholder engagement and event planning would be a big asset.
Interested in finding out more? Come along, and learn more about how to shape our plastic-free future and work together to create a cleaner, greener Marden!
Online gaming enjoys an ever-increasing level of popularity, and many players are eager to connect with one another as they enjoy a friendly competition or go for the win side by side. Whether it’s to strategise and coordinate, or simply have a chat as you indulge in your hobby, the fact remains that plenty of games now offer means for their players to talk to one another, be that in a text or voice format.
Unfortunately, this functionality – which is used to connect with strangers just as often as it is with friends – poses several risks to younger players, and it’s vital for parents and educators to understand these safety concerns. This free guide offers expert advice on the issues that may arise when using in-game chat, and lets you know how to safeguard the children in your care as they make use of this technology.
