This year, the school council voted to raise money for the charity Demelza. This is a charity that provides exceptional hospice care for children in South East London and Kent.
This summer Demelza is working in collaboration with Wild in Art. Wild in Art is a company that promotes creativity and a passion for the visual arts by placing sculptures, that children have designed and decorated, in public spaces. You may remember seeing a series of Elmer and Shaun the sheep sculptures in Maidstone.
We are fortunate to be part of this project. The school council will design and paint our school mascot before it is displayed in Tunbridge Wells this summer. In the autumn term, our school mascot will be returned to Marden Primary Academy where it will be displayed and enjoyed by all.
As a school we now have two jobs. Firstly, we need to name our mascot and secondly we need to think of ideas about how to decorate it. If your child has any ideas please ask them to share it with their school council representative.
Although the school council is incredibly excited about our artistic assignment we must not forget that we are raising money for charity alongside our project. The school council has planned two events that will help in doing this.
