4Chestnut Learning Update

Central idea: Transportation systems can be developed to meet the needs of a community

We had a fantastic time at the London Transport Museum! The children caught the train to London Charing Cross where they then conducted a quick traffic survey outside of the station (so that they could compare it to their Marden survey) before setting off to the Transport Museum. They had some time to explore the different types of transport within the museum on either side of their coding workshop.

During the coding workshop, they spoke to real-life engineers who helped them assemble commands on a train track for the trains to follow. They increased/reduced the speed of the train, made it stop and start again, change direction and also learnt how to make sure it did these commands for a longer or shorter period of time. They were incredibly well-behaved and really enjoyed their time in London.
