2Maple Learning Update

Central idea: Rules and laws within a society can help shape its structure.

Maths: We have been learning how to calculate and solve problems using measures as well as comparing volume and capacity.  Children have made good progress learning how to read and interpret a simple scale - please help foster your child's curiosity of different measuring scales (g, kg, ml, l) at home and talk about how much more/less, and look at the capacity of different containers.

Inquiry: We have been learning more about King Charles III as leader of the Commonwealth countries and exploring the 54 different nations on an interactive map as well as looking at atlases to see which continents they are in.  As part of our inquiry, we will be composing a fanfare for a King - this week we have enjoyed creating and clapping our own 4-beat rhythms using lolly sticks to represent crotchets and quavers.

Science: As part of our unit on plants, we have explored in greater depth what plants need to grow and stay healthy.  We are conducting in enquiry over time to observe plants growing from bulbs.
