Central idea: Our likes and dislikes make us who we are.
The EYFS enjoyed their first assembly with Karen from the Blue Cross Trust. We learnt that all pets deserve to be healthy and happy. We can look after our pets in four ways:
Mila: Spend time with you pets and love your pet.
Leo H: Give your pet some food and water.
Claudia: Give them room to grow.
Raffie: Animals need a nice clean house.
The children were excited to be visited by Year 4 to tell us why healthy eating is important. We learnt how to make good food choices to be healthy and have lots of energy.
Benji - Children should eat fruits and vegetables so that we grow.
Evelina - I love eating carrots!
Arthur - Doggies need to eat the right foods as well.
Zara - Vegetables are good for you.
Rowan: The big boys and girls said we should eat vegetables and fruit to be healthy.
Alex: Chicken and cheese and milk is good for you too.
Otis: My dog eats meat and vegetables. He is a healthy dog.
Alice: I love my dog so I want my dog to be healthy.
Team Oak and Team Juniper decided to make some healthy treats for our pets. The children carefully chose which vegetables they wanted to add to their 'Pick and Mix' pet treat bags. We used peas, sweetcorn, carrots and cucumber because they are good for animals. It is important that our pets eat healthy food so that they can live happy lives.
On Tuesday, Wild Science joined us for a petting zoo experience. The adults were so impressed with how so many children held and stroked all the animals. We met a snake, a cockroach, a lizard, and a bunny rabbit.
Chloe: I had two favourites. The frog and the bunny. The frog was climbing on my arm and the bunny was so soft.
Vienna: I liked the bunny and the lizard because its spikes were smooth. The bunny was soft when I stroked it.
Theo: I loved the bunny. He was soft and his fur was black.
Eleanor: We have some carrots in the classroom. Can we give the rabbit one? They are a healthy snack.
Sylas: I liked all of the animals. I have no favourite because they were all my favourite!
Jack: I like the bunny the best because he is soft like my rabbit. I brush my rabbit so the fur is soft.
Amelia: I like all the animals. We have to look after them because they make us happy.
