Beginning/Advanced Piano

Description: 

The class is designed to give students an overview of different drumming traditions from around the world.  The primary instruments used in the course are Djembes’ which hail from Ghana.  We will explore African, Latin, American, Middle Eastern and European drumming styles. By the end of the course students will have beginning proficiency has  drummers. 

Class Structure:

The class will be structured as a large drumming circle for most sections. The students will be drumming every class, for the entire duration of the class.  In addition to the large group, students will oftentimes be broken into small drumming groups to get a different ensemble experience.
