Purpose:

The main purpose for a Class Site is access and visibility. It acts a 'one stop shop' for anyone looking for the content, resources, assessment information, useful links, and contact information for that class or teacher.

The audience ranges from students, teachers and staff, whānau, through to visitors.

Requirements and Expectations:

The class site must be visible, and therefore the permissions need to be set to public. Invested whanau and student support networks need to have access to the site, as do school staff e.g. Mentor teachers. Note: It is the Schools expectation that the majority of class work be made publicly visible through workspaces, however it is possible to restrict access on individual docs where appropriate or required.

The class site must be functional, and therefore organised in a clear and logical way. We recommend each class having its own set of subpages, and class content be organised by Units or Achievement challenges.

The class site must be kept up to date, and therefore reflects the current information for the class that year. We recommend making a new site each year, although it can be helpful to make a 'copy' of the previous years site, and update it to reflect the new year and content.

The class site must have the class Workspaces and calendars embedded, and therefore providing access to the class content. This means that invested whanau and student support networks can see the class work, due dates, and assessment information.

Note: Once embedded, Workspaces will update automatically so it is only a one time action not a daily or weekly task to update the site.
