About Adventures By Miranda

Unlike many of my colleagues, I was not a born world traveler. My parents did make a concerted effort to take the family on a beach vacation every summer that was within driving distance. My father knew that travel fostered real bonding. Once I became a prickly teenager he began planning interesting road trips so that we would have long car rides where I would be bored and more inclined to open up about my life.

I was also very fortunate to have a grandmother who knew the value of travel and way it could change the trajectory of a young person's life. She loved to travel, but had a debilitating fear of flying - so she hit the rails! I can remember many lovely, long nights perusing travel brochures and planning our next adventure - always via train, the most romantic and dignified form of travel in her book. I would fall asleep next to her to the sounds of her pecking away at her typewriter as she drew up our detailed itineraries. To this day, I have an abiding love for a well-crafted itinerary and delight in producing the perfectly curated itinerary for each of my clients that reflects their travel style and trip goals.

My father and my grandmother always gave me more autonomy when we traveled so I quickly associated travel with independence and self-confidence. I was free to explore and and experiment with new versions of myself in a place where no one knew me. It is these feelings of freedom and the opportunities to connect with a new place and draw closer to the people I travel with that I strive to give to my clients.

Now that is my story, but it doesn't necessarily fit the description of all of my clients. My experiences in the travel industry have allowed me to enjoy working with all ages and travel types. From solo travelers to multi-generational family groups, friend groups, wedding parties, honeymooners to empty-nesters.

Very different travel styles and goals, but what do they all have in common? Quite simply, they want to travel better.

Better than they have previously, and better than their neighbors and friends posting on Facebook. (it's ok to admit that). They want knowledge, and service, and VALUE - and they know that the latter isn't always accomplished by going with the bargain deal.

Essentially, they want an expert who will listen, ask questions, create, advise, steer, suggest, inspire, manage, and problem-solve...so they've all come to me!

Regardless of your travel style and goals, I'm here to help you take the road less traveled by, and like those mentioned above, to quite simply travel better!

Travel feeds the soul and for that reason I cannot give any client a pre-made itinerary from a file. Instead I engage each new client in a conversation that guides my understanding of their personal travel style and goals. From there, we can design a trip like no one else's that will give them unique, quality experiences.

Main Street And More Travel

Main Street and More Travel was founded by Christina Wood, who after nearly a decade as a travel agent herself, wanted to put together a team that shared the same idea: that your vacation is more than just a trip, that it has the potential to enhance your life, nourish your soul, and provide experiences you’ll cherish for a lifetime. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of the planning process of your next vacation.

Our services are always free and you will pay the same price as you would booking directly with the destination. In addition, you will always speak to the same agent who will get to know your wants, needs, and budget. We feel this one on one interaction is the biggest benefit of working with a travel agent. Just as importantly, through your travel agent, you will have access to the entire Main Street and More Travel team and their years of experience and points of view.
