International Inter-School Competition PBL Workshop
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no entity international exchange competition between National Taipei University of Technology and Osaka Institute of Technology in 2021 and 2022. However, the enthusiasm of Taipei Tech students to participate in the summer PBL remained strong. After inter-school negotiations, we decided to held a PBL competition with Osaka Institute of Technology online remotely. Despite facing difficulties such as the complexity of manufacturing the self-moving cars and language barriers and unstable communication devices, both universities collaborated in mixed groups through electronic communication devices remotely to design self-moving cars.
Additionally, in 2022, students come from Zhonghe Senior High School boldly participated in the workshop, breaking the traditional college students' framework and successfully stimulating more innovative and creative ideas.

In 2020, due to the impact of the pandemic, the International PBL Workshop took a new approach by conducting a one-week international PBL workshop with students from Osaka Institute of Technology through internet remote. Taiwanese and Japanese students were composed into six groups to collaborate, develop, and compete in assembling prototypes of self-driving vehicles equipped with intelligent sensing components, collectively creating the "Automatic Detection Mechanized Vehicle". Through the collaboration of students across departments, disciplines, and nationalities, it enhanced cross-disciplinary knowledge and built up to problem-solving abilities, effectively achieving the learning target of the PBL.
In 2021 Taiwan-Japan International PBL Competition expanded to Zhonghe Senior High School students. Due to the pandemic, the competition was held remotely online from August 22nd to 28th, total 7 days. Students come from Taipei Tech, and Osaka Institute of Technology, and for the first time, Zhonghe Senior High School students participated together. The competition focused on the theme of developing "Automatic Detection Mechanized Vehicles" accurately capturing designated targets. It encouraged students to demonstrate their teamwork within vehicle design, manufacturing, and programming. A significant difference from previous years was the increased complication level of the competition by introducing various physical obstacles such as grassy areas, sandpits, pools, and gravel. These aimed to examine the student's comprehensive understanding of configuring parameters for building automatic vehicles. Each team conducted an oral presentation describing their vehicle design and explaining the concept entirely in English. After that around 3/4 of the participants thought their communication, coordination, problem-solving abilities, had notably improved. Through the teaching model of the International PBL Competition Workshop, students not only enhanced their practical designing skills but also built up their pragmatic resolution capacity, proposing feasible solutions. Students come from different countries worked together can expand their global perspective, strengthen their teamwork abilities, and facilitate international academic exchanges cooperation.
