Stratford Tennis is a private tennis facility that gave Galileo’s Tennis team an incredible new opportunity. They invited several members of the team to participate in a couple rounds of doubles. The players were thrilled as they anticipated the fresh opportunity.
Not only were the players excited, but so was their coach. Mrs. Larking mentioned how happy she was that these students were getting a chance to learn, adapt, and get more experience.
Galileo students were duoed up against experienced, adult, tennis players. This was a wonderful learning opportunity for our tennis teams’ beginner players, and everyone thrived in it.
Scarlett Aldaba, who was extremely nervous at first, said the results were way better than she expected. She and her partner won all three sets! She mentioned needing to improve her footwork and work on her backhand, and this experience gave her a chance at correcting those.
“I was really excited with the new connections and the new opportunities that this experience gave me,” Mariana Escobar, another Galileo player, stated. She was excited to know what it would be like playing against very experienced duos.
After the three sets, Jae’Kavion Jones had a chance to play a solo game with the most experienced player there: Galileo’s Tennis team’s coach.
Mrs. Larking and Jae’Kavion have played against each other before, resulting in Jae’Kavion’s many losses. So now was his time for redemption. And he redeemed himself greatly!
Jae’Kavion beat Mrs.Larking and was ecstatic. Not even 5 minutes after his win, Jae’Kavion posted on social media declaring his victory and even stating how he should be the new tennis coach.
This opportunity was appreciated by all and opened so many new windows for Galileo’s beginning tennis community. Thank you Stratford Tennis!
