Book Cover Design Process

When recreating the book cover for Who Was Marie Curie by Megan Stine, I first wanted to achieve the look of a wooden desk for the cover's background. To do that I went to the background tab and searched for wood and scrolled until I found the one that looked the best. I selected the image and applied to the background of my cover. My next step was to find a font that caught the reader's attention. I went to the text tab and scrolled through until I found a bold font and edited the text to show the title. In the element tab I was able to search for graphics and photos that was related to Marie Curie and the information in the book. This includes a Nobel Prize, the element radium, the Polish flag, a photo of Marie Curie, and molecules. I used the resizing tool to change the size of each element used on the book cover. Then I used the layering tool to move images behind one another and bring others forward. I used tools to tilt the images to give a disorganized look while still fitting the theme of the book. I played with resizing each picture and text to use all of the space that I could so it did not feel empty.
