The Whistler

THE WHISTLER Reflection:

I did my digital music project on Incredibox. I enjoy Incredibox because it is easy, fun, and free! Incredibox has 7 options in total, 4 are free, 3 you must pay for to unlock. It is a program that uses loops to make a song. As you may know, loops are files that repeat over and over. I chose one of the options called Little Miss to create my song because it has a lot of really cool, beat-box sounds! A few sounds you can choose from are, a whistle sound, a low “do,do,do,” sound, and a sound similar to a trumpet. I used the whistle sound in my song, that's why it's called “The Whistler.” It includes a couple voiced parts also, they say things such as, ¨Is it, is it, all got for me.”

The whistle sort of sounds mysterious and makes you wonder where he could be, well that’s the case for me! Also, I love how it starts off with just the beat boxer, then it layers from there with more sounds! I too enjoy, at the end how it all of a sudden comes to a stop, then you hear “De day du up down”. I enjoy this because you have these different noises and, then suddenly they’re gone and you can focus on one of my favorite sounds. Another thing I like is how the trumpet comes back and does his loop twice, because when he leaves you wonder where he went, and if he will come back.

I had to fix and correct my song a lot! I made numerous trips to my music teacher, Mr.Carr. I had one of my friends, also creating a digital music project song, listen to it multiple times and give me feedback. A lot of different people gave me their opinion throughout this process. I, myself, had to judge myself and decide what to add, when to stop, and how to improve the song.

Overall, I do believe Incredibox is a great program. I also think “The Whistler” is a great song. I hope you enjoyed it.
