You can complete the FAFSA if you...

• Are a documented student. Parents do NOT need to have a social security number or be documented for a student to apply. 

Steps to filling out the FAFSA...

1. Gather all needed materials

• Taxes from 2023

• Social Security #- students and parents (if they have one) 

• Birthday date of parent and student

2. Create your FAFSA ID# 

• Your parent may already have an FAFSA ID#, if they attend school or you have siblings who have or had attended school. 

3. Complete FAFSA application- College Goal WI is a great place to complete with support

• You will need to add all schools of interest to your application, which allows schools to view your financial need and provide loans, grants, and/or scholarships. If you DO NOT know yet, you can always go back in and add schools!

4. Wait for processing of application 

• Keep an eye on your FAFSA account to make sure application goes through and does not require any extra processes or verification. 

5. Receive expected family contribution information and school specific aid packages
