Applying for An Apprenticeship

Steps to applying for an apprenticeship...

1. Connect with an Apprenticeship Navigator or WRTP Big Step (LHS College and Career Center can connect you with local contact!) to select which apprenticeship you would like to apply for

• DWD (Department of Workforce Development) 

• Local Union Office

• Madison College Apprenticeship Application Process and Info Video 

2. Complete application (applications can be purchased at Union offices or at the location of company you plan to apply to. There is an application fee ($20.00) so please plan accordingly)

• Obtain Your Driver's License

• Placement Test (or ACT)

• Letters of Recommendation (2 required for most placements)

  • Some letter writers may ask you for your activities sheet or a resume so they can write the BEST letter for you. 

• Transcript with date of HS graduation listed

• Complete Application- hand in above information (portfolio) to site by site due date 

3. Prepare for interview/ selection process

4. Begin apprenticeship
