Specialists
Our PE specialist is Coach Jean Sutherland! Coach Jean has been a pivotal part of our weekly lessons; providing important gross motor development for our students. She works on hand-eye coordination, balance, team work, agility and sportsmanship. You'll find her all over campus playing games like Parachute, Sharks and Minnows and Clean your Room! She can be reached at JSutherland@lvusd.org
In the Media Center, we have Mrs. Katie Greco leading the way for our young readers! She loves finding new books for kids to enjoy as well as troubleshooting any problems students have with iPads, laptops or in our Makerspace! She can be reached at KGreco@lvusd.org
We have a wonderful art specialist Mrs. Nastarin who loves working with children of all ages. We can't wait to see everything the kiddos create this year in her class! You can reach her at MNastarin@lvusd.org
In addition to all the singing and noise making students will do in the classroom, they will also visit the music room with Mr. Barroll once a week for instrumental instruction and musical notation! Mr. Barroll is best known for his work at Calabasas High School as the music director for many years! Mark your calendars for a wonderful end of year concert too! Mr. Barroll can be reached at JBarroll@lvusd.org
The superhero of our campus is definitely the amazing Mrs. Gillepsie who can do it all. Her official title is "school counselor" but those words don't even begin to describe the many hats she wears. She is full of energy and great ideas on ways to get kids talking, feeling and making friends at school. She visits our classrooms once a month to teach specific lessons from our Second Step social/emotional curriculum. In addition, she runs small group intervention sessions for students who can use some extra support with behavior and/or emotional regulation. She can be reached at Mgillespie@lvusd.org. We also have a wonderful STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) teacher who guides children through various open-ended stimulating activities that promote critical thinking and problem solving. Our newly renovated STEAM lab was hand built by our amazing PFA donations and is a modern space for learning that is also known as the Bay Laurel Creation Station!
