Social Studies

In TK and K students will cover a variety of important social studies skills.

Whether it's online or in person, the year starts off with important discussions about rules and the importance of becoming part of a community. Children learn about different roles in our community and understand how each person contributes to the wellness of our society.

We take ample time to study holidays and celebrate cultural traditions from all over the world. In November, we take a look at our own family dynamics and students have opportunities to share what makes their families special. During the winter, we take a closer look into the way different families host important family traditions.

We use our Studies Weekly program, as well as Scholastic Let's Find Out magazines and other teacher created materials to reinforce the state social studies standards. Field trips may include visiting local community workplaces such as the library, city hall, fire station and farm.
