Summary: I took part in a webinar entitled "Creating Accessible Learning Environments: An Introduction to Universal Design for Learning. It explained how the learning environment can help the learners thrive.

Summary: When we had to move to online learning at Ligonier Valley, a teacher and I collaborate every Friday on a lesson. Much of this teacher's online assignments consist of the learners doing I-Ready or Achieve 3000 on their own. This brings many learners together. The learners are given a play ahead of time to read. On Fridays, we try to get as many learners as possible to get on Zoom and read a Scholastic play out loud. We try to get them to do the voices and play the part, just as if we were in class. This gets them excited about the technology we can use.

Summary: This is my survey from the SVC Technology Symposium. After I presented, one of the professors who sat in to watch me evaluated me based on my learning expectations. These rubrics show what we are expected to achieve and learn. They help us to check off every part of a project so that we understand what our observers should see.

When Ligonier had to move to online learning, many learners were not doing their work or logging on. When the A.P. contacted these learners and their families, the biggest complaint was that they had no idea how to navigate Schoology or Zoom on the iPad or the laptop. So, I made a series of videos showing them how to use the platforms and how to reach out for help if needed. The expectation is clear that work is to be completed and you are to ask for help if needed.

Summary: This webinar focused on creating accessible learning environments. A safe and accessible environment is one that is conducive to learning. If a classroom follows the Universal Design for Learning, the physical environment, experiences, curricula, and culture will be ready for students to learn.
