Summary: In one of my classes, I had to research a new Web 2.0 tool. Web 2.0 tools are emerging as some of the most helpful tools in and out of the classroom. I chose to research Flipgrid. It is a social learning platform using video and video discussion.

Summary: I did research on the Quality Matters framework. I found out that it is a way to evaluate and improve online courses so that all courses are evaluated in the same way, regardless of the institution. This Google Slides presentation proves that I was able to research this framework and how to use it in practical circumstances.

Summary: In one of my classes, we were asked to create our own teaching model. I chose to create a teaching model that creates relevance. It is called the Triple R Model: Relevant, Realistic, and Real-World. Rather than sitting and doing "drill-and-kill" all day, the learners would be exposed to real-life situations and explanations for why they are learning.

Summary: I went to a guest speaker at Richland School District that focused on personalized learning. Eric Sheninger, the keynote speaker talked about using technology as a tool to personalize levels and make modifications as needed. He spoke about the different programs and engagement tools that were out there for learners. He said that technology can sometimes be looked at as an enemy in schools. It can be seen as a distraction when it comes to social media and cell phones. However, we need to turn it around and use it as a way to reach learners of different levels.

Starting with each learner at their own level and differentiating from there is the best way of accelerating reading rates and comprehension. The presenters put a spotlight on Achieve3000 in which learners take a diagnostic test to find their lexile level. Then all activities are on their lexile levels, periodically testing the learners to move up the lexile ladder.

Summary: In one of my classes, we had to make a Hyperstudio course. We had to use many types of media to teach a course and test learning. I chose to to my project on healthy eating. I had my main menu as a place setting and learners could click and maneuver through the course. They then had to plate a healthy meal that had all necessary components. Throughout the course, there were formative assessments and fun ways to learn.

Summary: The first artifact is a write-up on the Zendesk project that we did in one of my classes. We were in charge of a help desk. In the write-up, I demonstrated how I was able to communicate properly with those that needed help. I also included an email exchange with a teacher in my building who needed my help giving technology demonstrations in her classroom.

Last year, I came to the major mixed grade-level project and did a few tech demonstrations. I taught the learners about Canva and Flipgrid so that they could use them for their final projects. Paula Brown emailed me to ask if I could come again and give a refresher course. I taught the learners about Canva (again) and Google Sites.
