The LHS Theater program holds several plays and musicals throughout the year, including novice plays for students new to LHS (Play-oneers), and is a nationally recognized and award-winning program. Students join this program to tell stories onstage, and leave this program at the end of their time here with a family. Students have the opportunity to take classes such as Acting I & II, Advanced Drama, and Repertory Theater.
In Tech Theater, students will have the opportunity to learn what happens behind the scenes to make a production a real success. Yes you need good actors, but to make a show truly believable, said actors need costumes, a set, stage makeup, and sound and lighting effects. Tech kids are the people that build the sets, design and make the costumes and props, design hair and makeup, and even work on sound effects. There is also a student stage director. Tech kids are honored during Tech Appreciation Week after the show, and are inducted as Thespians. Students can learn all about technical theater by taking the semester-long Stagecraft class (and maybe even Advanced Technical Theater) offered at LHS.
