Writing - We continued working on our "Suspense Writing Prompt" and watched a video to get ideas of how else to build suspense into out writing.

Writing - We continued working on our "Suspense Writing Prompt" and attached it to Google Classroom (for me to look over - over the weekend). We will work on Editing and Revising next week.

Novel Study - We read chapter 16 and discussed how things may have gone differently at the end of Chapter if Charlie were with Howard.

Writing - We continued working on our "Suspense Writing Prompt" and focused on a conclusion. We also discussed the Polar Expressions writing contest that students may wish to enter a short story or poem into.

Novel Study - We read chapter 21 and discussed the character Jackie.

Writing - We read a poem as a class and then students chose 1 of the provided "Fall/Spooky" Poems to read in groups. We looked at theme (what the poem is about) along with what patterns or "elements of poetry" are in the different poems. We began sharing our group poems with the class.

Novel Study - We read chapter 22 and discussed what may have happened different in the chapter had things ended differently at the end of dinner.

Writing - We finished reviewing the four poems from yesterday, looking at theme (what the poem is about) along with what patterns or "elements of poetry" are in the different poems, and spooky description. After we made a list of spooky words in the poems and that we could think of to use in our poems later this week.

Novel Study - We read chapter 23 and discussed whether Charlie ever realized what Jackie had told her at the end of the Chapter.

Grammar - We learned about synonyms, antonyms, and homophones. Watch the video, complete the quiz, and you will have a booklet to work on when you get back (unless a sibling was able to bring it home for you)

Novel Study - We worked on Comprehension questions for Wish. They are for Chapters 21-23 (page 8) on Google Classroom.

Writing - We watched a video on Elements of Poetry and picked out these elements in a couple poems we read in class. We then thought of a spooky topic and began writing our own poem.

Novel Study - We made predictions on how the story will end and finished the novel. After we began a story sketch of the book.

L.A. - We read the story Sergeant Billy last week and have started researching ONE animal that was used in the war. Today we started working on presenting our findings.

Novel Study - We finished our story sketch and then completed a question on Google Classroom about Wish. When finished we discussed "book trailers" for Wish.

Novel Study - We watched a book trailer and brainstormed what Key Details we could include in our own Book Trailer for Wish. We recorded our ideas on a graphic organizer.

Novel Study - At the end of class, find someone at home to share you Book Trailer at! (11:40ish)

Writing - Today is the last day "in class" to work on Letters. To start the class we shared some of the things we wrote about in our friendly letters to Charlie.

After, (11:15) we reviewed "Story Maps" and began writing a short story outline, focussing on introducing the characters and plot. Check out the plot generator for more ideas.

FINAL DAY FOR POEMS - SUBMIT ONLINE/MAIL BY TOMORROW

Read - Read for 20 minutes and then find someone at home to share what is happening in your book with.

Writing - Continue working on your Short story. Review you plot map before starting/continuing writing.

  • Make sure that your introduction include background information (characters & setting).
