Prioritized Standards:

Semester 1 Learning Targets (will carry into Semester 2):

  • In formal oral presentations, use effective verbal communication (1.1.b)

  • Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text infers (2.1.a)

  • Develop claim(s) fairly and thoroughly (3.2.a.ii)

  • Supply the most relevant evidence for claims (3.2.a.ii)

  • Analyze the logic of complex situations by questioning the purpose (4.2.a)

  • Analyze the logic of complex situations by questioning the information (4.2.a)

  • Evaluate the reasoning of others for quality, strong-sense thinking (4.3.d)


Semester 2 Learning Targets:

  • Use new learning to complete a specific task (such as convince an audience, shape a personal opinion or decision, or perform an activity) (2.2.a.iv)

  • Initiate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions on 11-12 topics (1.2.a)

  • Participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions on 11-12 topics (1.2.a)

  • Evaluate the credibility of sources (4.1.d)


Norms:

  1. Be present.

  2. Allow student needs to set the agenda more often than not

  3. Assume positive intent

  4. Meet complaints with solutions

  5. Everyone participates with data collection

  6. Respect opinions and ideas

  7. Don’t be afraid to reassess focus, goals, norms, etc…

  8. Attempt to redirect if we get too far off track / accept the redirect when offered

  9. Spill our idea guts!

  10. No apologies!

Heavy Norms:

  1. We will administer CFAs every 3-6 weeks.
