Showing up is the first step to becoming a productive citizen. Despite the influx of students at our high school annually, we have noticed a significant drop in attendance. This year we would like to make a positive impact on the cadets through JROTC, by stressing the importance of overall school attendance to life success as well as self-responsibility and discipline.
Academic performance is among the most important aspects of a well-rounded cadet. With the aid of the mentoring program, we are looking to create an efficient way of assisting cadets with academics, so adjustments will be made. After-school office hours with corresponding mentors and mentees, having one-on-one time.
Performance Measurement
85% of cadets wear the uniform correctly and are in regulation of personal appearance, and/or grooming standards.
At least 75% of the cadets in our cadet core will receive an average grade of “A” within AFJROTC, by the end of the first semester, and 65% by the end of the school year.
At least 40% of staff will maintain an average of 4.0 GPA weighted in the first semester
For the past year and this following new one, our cadet count has significantly dropped. We have also noticed that simply visiting middle schools and putting on a performance has proved inefficient. Alongside continuing what we have always done, being an excellent visual representation, we are looking to publish all events through detailed and precise summaries and blurbs to the Lowell Sun to get more publicizing, as well as entities outside of school districts.
Giving back to our city and its people is embedded in our Core Values; Service Before Self, so despite our rather small cadet count, we will strive to maintain a steady community service hour streak throughout the year to promote productive American citizens etiquette.
Performance Measurement
Organize after school program with the Lowell Community Charter Public School (mentorship program for 7th & 8th graders)
50% of the cadet corps participate in an activity outside of AFJROTC.
40% of cadets will attend each community service.
65% of cadets will participate in the Merrimack Valley Food Drive.
It has always been a goal to flourish in JROTC with participation in all of its disciplines, from Drill to JLAB. However, we also wish to see cadets use the skills that they learn in JROTC out in the rest of their high school career, especially in other clubs and activities. A cadet is well-rounded in all manners as a young adult, so we will push engagement in the community.
Performance Measurement
At least 70% of the cadets in the core will be in at least 2 activities/clubs/sports outside of JROTC.
Community Impact Goal
Our goal is for 80% of cadets to join an LDR team—such as Drill, Honor Guard, Raiders, or JLAB—during the first semester. These teams offer vital experiences in leadership, discipline, and teamwork, helping cadets grow individually while strengthening their commitment to the program and preparing them for future leadership roles.
Performance Measurement
We aim for 90% of cadets to attend at least two community service events, contributing to a total of 5,000 service hours.
