Welcome to the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) program at Lowell High School, Unit MA-771! On behalf of all of the Instructors, we are excited that you have chosen to visit our website and discover the opportunities our program offers. We will also highlight the work our Cadets produce in running their AFJROTC Unit!
The AFJROTC program involves a broad spectrum of study, including military history, human behavior, management, finance, communications skills, individual leadership, and physical fitness. AFJROTC is not a recruiting program. You DO NOT have to serve any time in military service unless you choose to do so after completion of high school. However, if you complete three years in the program, you will receive a higher rank (pay) if you enlist in the Active Duty Military components and scholarships are available to qualified cadets who decide to enter the service.
We’re featuring cadet quotes to highlight the experiences and perspectives within our corps. Through their own words, cadets share how the program has shaped their leadership skills, discipline, confidence, and sense of community. These experiences show the real impact of drill, academics, service projects, and team activities, capturing both the challenges and the growth that come with being part of AFJROTC.
My second year in JROTC has helped me grow a lot as both a leader and a teammate. I’ve learned how to take more responsibility, work better with others, and set an example for newer cadets. It’s also given me new opportunities to build confidence and push myself outside my comfort zone.

AFJROTC in our unit, MA-771, has been a huge rollercoaster; from just being a kid from an influential military family to joining and becoming a Flight Sergeant in the first quarter, and being given many opportunities. If I could go back in time to change anything, I wouldn't change anything about joining AFJROTC at all. I've also learned to be a better person in general, and many characteristics and traits have been unlocked just by being a part of the Unit. It has truly been a very humbling and wonderful experience.
- C/Airman Basic Ryan Ma
Leading my flight has been an incredible experience, and I'm honored to be given this opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with underclassmen. Throughout this year, I've learned that leading isn't just about giving directions; it's about listening and setting the example. Seeing the cadets in my flight come together to work as a team has been the best part of being a Flight Commander.

Core values are the foundation for an apex-quality Air Force Junior ROTC program. Core values are also fundamental guidelines that can serve you throughout your life. MA-771 promotes the following U.S. Air Force Core Values for all its cadets:
-INTEGRITY FIRST-
Integrity means devotion to honesty and truthfulness, to doing one’s duty and doing what is right. It means that your word can always be counted upon and that you can be trusted to accomplish your job.
-SERVICE BEFORE SELF-
Service is the giving of self to provide for the welfare of others. Personal desires are not considered in the concept of service.
-EXCELLENCE IN ALL WE DO-
Excellence means doing the very best you can in each job you perform regardless of how large, small, difficult, or easy it is to accomplish.
-CADET HONOR CODE-
WE WILL NOT LIE, CHEAT, OR STEAL, NOR WILL WE TOLERATE ANYONE AMONG US WHO DOES.
