This weekend, the MA-771 Red Raiders and Red Raider Guard traveled to Union, New Jersey, to compete at Union High School’s Army Junior ROTC Regional Drill Meet. Cadets competed in team color guard, regulation, inspection, exhibition, new cadet, and an all-level event featuring varsity cadets. New cadets placed 1st, and the all level team placed 2nd. The unarmed team placed 2nd overall out of 18 schools, taking 1st place in exhibition, 1st in inspection, and 2nd in regulation. The armed team placed 2nd in the inspection and 2nd in color guard. These results are a reflection of the team’s consistent practices and dedication! Thanks to all the teachers and staff who support the program as the MA-771 Drill Teams continue to gear up for the rest of their local competition season. The North Quincy AFJROTC Drill Meet is up next in December and the teams are excited for their seasons!
Red Raiders & Red Raider Guard
The MA-771 AFJROTC Drill Teams are marching teams that perform regulation and exhibition-inspired routines. The two major components of the LHS Raider drill teams are the Armed and Unarmed teams. Cadets of all year groups (Freshman Through Senior) try out for competitive positions and commit to a rigorous practice routine throughout the school year. The City of Lowell, Lowell High School, and the Instructors of MA-771 are extremely proud of this group of competitors and wish them a great year in their endeavors!
Practice:
The teams regularly practice before and after school, Monday through Friday, and their schedules can vary depending on other events that use the gym space (Ceremonies, Honor Flights, etc.).
