7.1 Salary Computation
7.1.1 Current Salary Schedule
The salary schedule as agreed to in attachment Appendix “B.” The work year for all student dependent positions (i.e., Instructional Aides, Food Service) includes one in-service day. This day shall occur within the 186 teacher in-service days. The District shall have sole discretion as to the subjects of training and scheduling the date of this day each year.
7.1.2 Retirement Contribution
Effective July 1, 2017, the District will no longer pay the employee contribution for PERS retirement. Beginning July 1, 2017, all classified employees will be placed on the non-employer paid salary schedule.
7.1.3 Initial Placement on Salary Schedule
Initial step placement on the salary schedule shall be on Step A except in cases where the applicant has exceptional experience or when unusual recruitment conditions prevail. In no event shall a new employee be placed above Step C of the classification to which they are assigned.
7.1.4 Salary During Probationary Period
A probationary employee hired prior to February 1 shall be advanced one (1) step at the beginning of the fiscal year. Otherwise, probationary employees shall not receive a step increase until the beginning of the fiscal year after gaining permanent status.
7.1.5 Salary Following Probation
A permanent employee must be in paid status two-thirds (2/3) of the applicable work year (i.e., full-time or part-time) and receive a satisfactory evaluation to receive a step increase at the beginning of the next fiscal year.
7.1.6 Longevity Pay
An employee who has completed ten (10) years of District employment in classified positions shall receive a two and one-half percent (2-1/2%) increase in base pay payable each year thereafter. An additional two and one-half percent (2-1/2%) increase shall be paid after completion of fifteen (15) years of service. An additional two and one-half percent (2-1/2%) increase shall be paid after completion of twenty (20) years of service.
7.1.7 Salary Schedule Placement of Rehired Employees
If a former permanent employee is rehired by the District in the same or a lower classification within twelve (12) months of the date of their resignation, he shall be placed at the same salary step held at the time of resignation.
7.1.8 Differential (Definition)
Differential is a salary or time allowance in addition to the basic rate or schedule based upon additional skills, responsibilities, hours of employment, for distasteful or hazardous work.
7.2 Payroll
7.2.1 Monthly Pay Period
All employees in the bargaining unit shall be paid once per month payable on or before the last day of the month.
7.2.2 Supplemental Checks
Any special payments found to be owing an employee in the bargaining unit resulting from such causes as: working out of class, re-computation of hours, or reasons other than procedural errors, shall be made and a supplemental check issued as soon as possible following the employee’s written notice to the payroll department.
7.2.3 Payroll Errors
Any payroll error resulting in insufficient payment for an employee in the bargaining unit shall be corrected upon request and, if feasible, a payroll check issued in accordance with the County Office of Education exceptional payroll schedule. Similarly, if an overpayment is made to an employee, a replacement payroll check may also be issued or the over-payment deducted from the employee’s next check.
7.2.4 Deduction for Retirement and Social Security
Contributions to P.E.R.S and O.A.S.D.I. shall be deducted from employee paychecks as required by law.
7.2.5 Authorized Payroll Deductions
The District shall, upon appropriate written authorization from any employee, deduct and make appropriate remittance for insurance premiums, credit union payments, savings bonds, charitable donation, or other approved plans or programs. The District shall pay to the designated payee within fifteen (15) days of the deduction all sums so deducted. The employee may revoke any authorization by providing written notice prior to the monthly payroll cutoff date.
