Studio Production and Composition at Longmeadow High School exposes students to the basics of audio recording, editing, mixing, and composition through the usage of music software - GarageBand and Logic Pro X.

Topics:
Technological Literacy: Proficiency using a MAC interface
Digital Recording: Students will create, analyze, and record live material in digital formats.
Using MIDI: Students will create and manipulate MIDI files and settings.
Composition: Students will create original musical compositions using the basic tools, media, and techniques in music technology. Basic theory and piano skills will be explored.
Critical Response: Students will describe and analyze their own recorded work and the work of others using appropriate vocabulary.
Grading:
Grading is based off straight points and comes from the below categories:
· Weekly / Bi-Weekly Assignments
· Written responses to your work, reflection on music etc.
· Participation/ Engagement
**Students who miss days of class are responsible for getting into the lab to make up any work they miss before the day of presentation.
Required Equipment and Lab Usage:
Students will need stereo headphones, please acquire headphones that fit over the ear and a Flash Drive (at least 4gb)
**You do not need to purchase software. Students have the software may wish to work on their projects at home but homework will not require software.**
