2024/2025 Honors Orchestra Audition Info linked HERE

Course Description:

Symphony is a mixed honors and non-honors course for any string student at LHS. The orchestra gives three in school concerts during the school year as well as additional off-campus performances throughout the school year. This group performs a wide variety of of styles, eras and settings, from full symphonic works to string orchestra; including music from the Baroque through 21st Century. Students should share a passion for excellence regarding personal and ensemble growth. Outside-of-class practice and sectionals are required. In addition to our class rehearsals prior to each concert we have three additional night rehearsals that are required for all members.
Students who successfully audition into the honors level for this course need to complete an additional 4 assignments each semester - which is found on our honors orchestra tracking form.
Honors level students should expect to be help to a higher musical standard.

Auditions and Performance Level:

Auditions are not necessary for membership. Auditions for seating and section leaders are held at the beginning of each school year. Students should prepare a piece that best demonstrates their musical and technical ability on their instrument. This group is welcome to any student regardless of experience on their instrument. However, students should be motivated to grow as musicians through individual and group rehearsals.
