Course Description:

Wind Ensemble is an honors level course for wind, brass and percussion students by audition. Wind Ensemble gives three in school concerts a year as well additional of campus performances throughout the school year. Students should share a passion for excellence regarding personal and ensemble growth. As an ensemble of many individuals, we always do what is best for the whole. Outside-of-class practice and sectionals are required. LWE students must be enrolled in private lessons. Additionally, all members of Wind Ensemble are the wind, brass and percussion section for the symphony. Prior to each symphony concert we have three night rehearsals to put together the string students with the wind ensemble members that are required for all members.

Auditions and Performance Level:

Auditions are required for all students to be part of the LHS Wind Ensemble. Auditions are held in the spring prior to each school year. Private lessons are mandatory for all students within this course. Daily individual practice is a requirement for this course and student musicians are expected to display daily growth on their instruments to benefit them as well as the entire group. Students are strongly encouraged to audition for the Senior District Festival each school year.
