All freshmen, juniors, and transfer students participating in contact sports are required to complete a baseline SWAY test once every two years.
The SWAY assessment measures balance, memory, reaction time, and processing speed to establish a reference in case of a concussion. Post-injury results are compared to the baseline to support diagnosis and guide return-to-play decisions.
SWAY is one of several tools used in concussion evaluation.
