Over the course of your time here at LSHS.

"The Viking Way" represents our community agreements. It represents how we commit to treating each other, our learning, and our space. You could even say it's the cornerstone of all our interactions and behaviors.

The Viking Way is made of three overarching expectations ...

The Viking Way is

our compass.

Just as ancient Vikings and other mariners throughout history used a compass to help guide them on their journeys, these three words can help guide us on our collective and individual journeys.

Regardless of whether the water is smooth as glass, or choppy and uncertain, we can always be respectful, we can always take responsibility, and we should always try to be ready.

A thought or two about "respect."

Folks from all around the world may mean something different when they use the word "respect."

So that there's no confusion, when we use the word in our Viking Way, we mean something very specific:

The bottom line? The Viking Way helps guide how we speak, act, and treat students, adults, learning, and space at Lake Stevens High School. As you go through this handbook, we'll call special attention to specific areas that have common behavior expectations, and we'll be sure to specifically teach how to operate within those areas.
