LSHS Student Handbook

Welcome, Vikings, to the 2023-24 school year!

The purpose of this handbook is to define, express, and reinforce the positive culture we celebrate at Lake Stevens High School. As we begin and continue our journey together, we invite you to review the following guiding principles that help shape how your student leadership team serves you this year.

Principal's Welcome

Greetings Viking Students and Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to Lake Stevens High School for the 2023-24 school year! Go Vikings!

We know that these are thrilling years when you embark upon new adventures and experiences. As such, we encourage every student to embrace the opportunities to cultivate relationships and get connected through one of the 4A’s: Academics, Arts, Activities, and Athletics.  We know that our students are energetic and enthusiastic about learning and that our teachers are dedicated to providing the best educational experience for each and every child.

LSHS features the 3R’s of being Respectful, Responsible and Ready through the Viking Way. We welcome and honor our diversity and are committed to creating a culture of dignity. As your principal, I am grateful for our team’s devotion to ensuring LSHS is a vibrant, inclusive and welcoming learning community. Our staff care for each other and our students while they build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.

The Student/Parent handbook includes information about the logistics of daily operations of the school, student life, and community involvement especially as it pertains to being a successful learning community. You will find information about the procedures students are expected to follow.

It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal. I am so proud to lead our Viking team in the quest for academic, athletic and social excellence. We believe that all students should graduate from high school prepared for the demands of postsecondary education, meaningful careers, and productive citizenship. It truly is a great day to be a Viking.

My Viking Best,

Leslie Ivelia

ASB President's Welcome

ASB President's Welcome

Hey Vikings!

I’m Chloe Nelson and I will be serving as your ASB executive president this year. I’m very excited to experience our Viking culture for another year, to see what memories we can make and the things we can accomplish together. Everyone will find their enjoyment in different ways, but I’d like to tell you to start with participating: in our spirit, our community, our events. You’ve already become a Viking, so learn to feel like you are one. Enjoy this experience. If you open yourself up to this community I believe you will make genuine connections and find people who truly accept you.

Something you may hear throughout the year is “real people, real connections, real community.” It may feel cliché at this moment, but throughout the year, I hope this statement is brought to life for you. When you hear it, I wish for it to spark memories of the people you’ve met and experiences that have left a positive impact on you.

Don’t forget to breathe and take breaks this year. Allow yourself room to grow while sticking to the things that fuel you. Remember your importance here, there will always be people who value you for you, not solely for your accomplishments.

As a member of ASB, and as myself, I’m here to serve you throughout this year. I’m just a “Hey!” away so don’t be afraid to reach out.

Take care of yourself Viks,

- Chloe
