Resources
The links below include information to support people who have exited jail or prison related to employment, housing, and supportive services.
IDHS: Illinois Reentry Resource Hub
This is the main state site for people coming home. It includes state-supported services like housing programs, employment help, mental health treatment, substance use resources, adult education, Medicaid, and SNAP (food assistance).
Education Justice Project (EJP) Resources
This is a searchable online directory of programs across the state. You can filter by location and by the type of service you need—housing, legal help, employment, health clinics, and more. It’s great for quickly finding real programs in specific areas. It’s not a narrative guide—strictly a provider directory.
Resources for Returning Citizens
This Prison Reentry Directory offers a variety of supports, including housing, and you can filter for the types of resources you need. This was created by the Education Justice Project for returning citizens.

Housing,

And more!
Illinois Re-entry Council (IRC)

They also provide reentry resources such as linking people to housing, legal services, workforce programs, information, and community partners. Click here to view IRC resources for returning citizens.
