Housing Counseling can include a variety of free services, such as help finding an affordable home, understanding your lease, help with applying for rental assistance, and information about renters’ rights. These centers also provide guidance for potential homeowners.
To find a Housing Counseling center near you:
Visit the Housing Counseling Services website
Add your Zip Code or one near you, or select the State of Illinois to see all options
Select an option or multiple options from the drop-down box, such as homeless services and/or rental housing services
You will notice an option to select your preferred language if English is not your first language when identifying a Housing Counseling center.
Nationally HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agencies
If you are unable to find a Housing Counseling agency near you in Illinois, another option is to check the website of any nationally approved Housing Counseling agency to learn if they offer the services you are seeking, and to call for help if you find a match.
