Senior housing can be for people 55 and above or 62 and above and tends to have lower waitlists than general subsidized housing.
When applying for housing through a Public Housing Authority (PHA), seniors can select a senior housing option or in some cases multiple senior waitlists. Public housing is subsidized so tenants pay 30% of their income and the subsidy pays the remaining portion of the rent.
