About this class
During this class you will learn the basics of business. You will learn about the 4Ps of Marketing and how to plan for a business. You will work in a group to run your own business, any profits you make you will keep. In the second term you will learn about Financial Literacy using Banqer as an online platform for learning. You will learn about different careers and how to earn and spend money wisely. Additionally, you will explore basic share market and home ownership principles along with other valuable life skills.

This year 9 option is a good precursor to further study Business at Year 10 and NCEA or can be used just to learn some skills that will be useful in later life.

During the first part of Business Studies you will learn about marketing, finance and human resources using McDonalds as a case study. You will then use what you have learnt to set up and run your own business. During the second term you will learn about China as our biggest export market and work in a team to develop a product to export. You will also learn about different careers that need business skills and how to get a job.
