Welcome to Computer Science at Bayridge Secondary School

Whether you are interested in programming, cybersecurity, game development, artificial intelligence, web design, robotics, esports, or technology in general, Bayridge Secondary School offers a wide variety of opportunities to explore your interests and develop valuable skills for the future.

At Bayridge, students can participate in technology courses from Grades 9-12, the Information and Communications Technology Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science opportunities, coding competitions, outreach initiatives, co-op placements, and the Bayridge Computer Specialist Program (BCSP). Together, these opportunities allow students to move beyond simply using technology and become creators, innovators, and problem-solvers.

The Bayridge Computer Specialist Program (BCSP)

The BCSP is a unique four-year enrichment program for students who want to challenge themselves beyond the regular curriculum. Throughout high school, BCSP students participate in independent learning, programming projects, coding competitions, leadership opportunities, technology certifications, and real-world experiences that help prepare them for post-secondary education and careers in technology.

The program is built around four key pillars:

Learn

Develop technical skills through computer science courses, self-directed learning, certifications, and enrichment opportunities.

Create

Design and build meaningful projects that demonstrate creativity, problem-solving, and programming expertise.

Compete

Challenge yourself through contests, hackathons, and programming competitions, including events hosted by the University of Waterloo and other organizations.

Lead

Support the technology community through outreach activities, mentoring, presentations, and leadership opportunities.
