At LCPS, Pathway work begins early when K-8 students engage in Making and Design classes, career exploration, and college planning. In high school, all students go through our Product Design or Media Arts Pathway coursework and complete a capstone project as seniors.
At Lighthouse High, through participation in our Product Design and Innovation Pathway, all students are active participants in building and shaping their worlds by looking closely at the world around them, exploring the complexity of how objects or systems are designed, and designing opportunities to enact change in their environments to create a more just and equitable world. By doing so, our students are prepared for college and career.
The Media Arts Pathway at Lodestar High sparks creativity, empowers students to elevate their voices, and opens doors to future opportunities. Through a series of courses and hands-on experiences, students develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and technical skills that help them learn and grow academically, personally, and professionally.
Now, at both high schools: Healthcare Pathway
Lighthouse Community Public Schools offers a rigorous Healthcare Pathway that prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers in nursing, mental health, and community health. In partnership with Chabot College, students gain real-world experience through dual enrollment, job shadowing, internships, and hands-on labs. With 80% of LCPS students being bilingual and 98% identifying as Black or Latinx, our program not only addresses regional workforce shortages but also builds a diverse and culturally competent pipeline of future healthcare professionals.
At Lighthouse Community Public Schools, we believe college should start before graduation. That’s why all high school students are encouraged—and supported—to take college courses while still in high school. The results speak for themselves:
50% of our seniors have already earned college credit
95% pass rate in dual enrollment courses
Through strong partnerships with local colleges, students gain exposure to real college coursework, earn transferable credits, and build confidence for life after high school. Dual enrollment gives our students a head start—and proves that they belong in college and career spaces from day one.
