A SHARED IDENTITY

In the loom of memories, these are the threads that interweave  to create the final fabric of our identity...

And so...

the Italian identity was shaped by several conflicts that affected different areas in different ways, from the wars of Independence to the two World Wars and, most recently, the Years of Lead. Particularly, the Years of Lead changed the perception of Italian identity and reshaped it. Even though they didn’t cause in all Italian areas the same impact as in Rome, they shook the public opinion. They made us aware of the fact that accepting pluralism is very important. They improved the development of democracy,  making Italy more responsible. They were a symbol of social war. All the deaths struck a blow against the sense of Italian identity as there was a widespread  sense of insecurity  and fear. Despite that, such a climate of terror affected Italian people and marked their identity  enhancing their sense of belonging.
