4 - Staff Meeting in Portugal

The staff meeting is dedicated to learning about the main characteristics and issues related to hospitalization and the condition of children who are forced to stay in the hospital for long periods. To this end, teachers are to supervise the preparation of teams of students who are to visit hospitals (when allowed) and bring their input to make the hospitalization more pleasant.

The host school has organized:

- a visit to Operação Nariz Vermelho, whose main purpose is to constantly ensure an intervention program within the pediatric services of Portuguese hospitals, through the visit of professional clowns. These artists have specialized training in the hospital environment and work closely with health workers, performing activities adapted to each child and each situation.

- a visit to Núvem Vitória: an association that has existed since 2016 that tells bedtime stories to children who, for health reasons, are in hospitals or other institutions, far from their familiar environment. Their mission is to develop and promote materials, tools, and skills that provide an environment conducive to restful sleep with hospitalized children or, acting in civil society, in the broadest and most comprehensive sense of the term. Their help will be very helpful in preparing materials for the students to use.

 - A workshop to prepare the questionnaire to be administered to 200 students and 200 adults to learn about their attitudes toward "hospitalization and the role of clowns in hospitals."

Our students:

- will learn more about the situation in hospitals

 - will see the programs that hospitals carry out to help hospitalized children improve their skills - will prepare the questionnaire to be given to students and adults on "Hospitalization and the role of clowns in hospitals."
