RRIMETER is a testing instrument developed by the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) to evaluate the dry rubber content (DRC) in natural rubber latex. It provides a rapid, reliable, and user-friendly alternative to conventional laboratory methods, such as oven drying. By integrating optical and digital measurement technologies, RRIMETER allows on-site quality assessment with minimal sample preparation. The development of RRIMETER utilises the application of Near-Infrared (NIR) Spectroscopy as a modern method for determining the Dry Rubber Content (DRC) in natural rubber. Existing DRC methods, such as oven-drying under ISO/BS standards or using hydrometers (Metrolac), are accurate but slow, equipment-intensive, or easily manipulated, especially in the rubber trading industry. These limitations highlight the need for a fast, simple, and reliable technology usable both in laboratories and in the field.
