Cuplump Modified Bitumen (CMB) is an innovative Malaysian road paving technology that enhances standard bitumen by incorporating coagulated natural rubber (cuplump) to create a more durable and elastic surface comparable to commercial polymer-modified bitumen (PG76). This technology offers a trifecta of benefits: it boosts the local economy by increasing demand for smallholders' rubber, improves infrastructure quality through greater resistance to cracking and rutting (leading to lower maintenance costs), and benefits the environment by reducing road noise. Developed through a collaboration between government agencies and industry partners, CMB has already been successfully implemented on over 264 km of roads, proving its effectiveness as a safe, high-performance solution for Malaysia's infrastructure.
