In-Class:

• Reading your independent reading book for 20 minutes.

• Write down one detail that stands out to you based upon what you read. Get up and find a partner to share this surprising or interesting detail or decision your character made with a partner.

• View a lesson on sentence structures.

  • Practice writing these on your desk. I will check each one you write.

    • Share them with your group.

    • Get up and find a new person to speak with and share your sentences.

• Read the article "Pets Can Really Be Like Human Family," and write a thesis in which you state the author's purpose and indicate 3-4 style elements or devices the author uses to assert her claim.

• Review the TDA writing tips study guide in preparation for the quiz scheduled for 2/7 and 2/8.

  • We will use this structure to write a text-dependent analysis next week, so please be sure to study.
