Intro to Hey, Kiddo (don’t hand out books yet)
If we have time: Analyze pictures from Hey, Kiddo using post its and using graffiti words in groups record what you notice on post-its. Debrief in your group. What are the similarities? What are the differences?
Address remaining questions and concerns!
At-Home:
Ask a parent or guardian to complete the syllabus acknowledgement form.
Select a book to read independently and begin reading.
Feel free to visit the South Carolina Association of School Librarians for ideas! Our class focuses a great deal on non-fiction texts, but reading fiction will only continue to enhance your reading and writing abilities! Feel free to select either a non-fiction or fiction text. Reading for 30 minutes per day outside of your school requirements is ideal, but reading for even 5 minutes a day can make a major difference!
Quote of the Day: "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves." ~William Shakespeare
Have a wonderful day!
