Parent/Guardian Presentations

Throughout the year, the LHS Counseling Department offers a number of Parent/Guardian presentations to assist families.  See below for a listing of upcoming presentations as well as videos and materials from past presentations.  

April 2024

12th grade only Parent/Guardians please join us!


Come join us for a circle conversation on Tuesday, May 14th at 9 a.m in the Library Media Center at LHS: "Letting Go While Holding On - Supporting your student (and yourself) through the complex transition to college." Whether you're launching your first child off to college or your last, we welcome all parents and caregivers of seniors at any stage to join. 


Dialogue will include other caregivers as well as members of our counseling staff who will facilitate a conversation around the process of letting go… while still holding on. Partner with us to explore topics around financial communication and literacy, having conversations with your young adults around sexual exploration and consent in the college setting, and re-negotiating your relationship with your partner when the kids’ rooms turn into the office. We will dig into the complexities around helping your young adults to launch while sharing tips and resources that can support your journey. 


We look forward to seeing you on the 14th!

Dear Class of 2026,


Welcome to LHS! This year our welcome video for incoming 9th grade students and their families comes to you with a different “feel”. This 45-minute video introduces 8th graders to the students and teachers at LHS including segments of advice for freshmen from peers and teachers, all about the lunch options and classes you can take, and there’s a lot of dancing, laughter, and screaming goats involved. The movie ends with a segment of “fun moments at LHS” which is a compilation of many photos and videos of the joy in learning that happens here. On behalf of everyone involved, we are SO excited for you to enjoy.

JUNIOR PARENT/GUARDIAN INFORMATION PRESENTATION

Hello Junior Parents/Guardians,


As our Junior Seminars are just kicking off, we are excited to reach out to you with a recorded presentation with some further information about the Post-Secondary Process that will hopefully help you feel more prepared to navigate this process!


The LHS Counseling Team has put together a video that touches upon how LHS counselors will be supporting your junior student, post-secondary options, impacts of COVID-19, some common myths, how families can support their student(s), and answers to some commonly asked questions.  Linked here  is the powerpoint presentation for you as well.
